The magical light and unspoilt landscapes of Scotland provide continued inspiration for my paintings |
Landscape painting had been Jim's ambition for a number of years and after a few tentative years , in March 1996 he painted his first watercolour that he felt was acceptable to show. He decided to frame it and approach a gallery for their opinion as to whether it might be suitable for hanging. It sold within three days of being shown in the gallery window.
This spurred Jim on to paint more, and continued sales proved that there was a demand for his work. He now displayes in a number of galleries and he is always eager to participate in exhibitions. Jim is still very enthusiastic about his work and enjoys the challenge each new painting brings. He is constantly striving to create a sense of atmosphere and drama in his paintings and when finished, it can often result in an image of great intensity. Scottish Landscapes - The Isle of Skye, is the largest of the Western Islands. It is home to Dunvegan Castle, (dating from the ninth century) seat of the Macleod Clan. The Island retains its unspoilt beauty and romantic atmosphere. |

Scottish Landscapes - Glencoe, site of the terrible massacre of 1692, when many of the Glens inhabitants belonging the MacDonald Clan were killed by English soldiers. The gloomy atmosphere and rugged beauty of this Scottish Glen provides continued inspiration for many artists throughout Scotland. |
